2020 Project Lab Final
We are in the unique position of being able to host this year’s event online and we are delighted that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, will be introducing the Project Lab final.
Since February, we have been searching for innovative and scalable church-led initiatives that support local people with their housing needs and build community in the process.
Enforced lockdowns across the country have made us acutely aware of where we live. Sadly, far too many of us still don’t have a safe place to call home. Furthermore, COVID-19 has highlighted the inequalities in our society, by disproportionately affecting those living in unsafe and crowded homes.
This year, Cinnamon Network and the Mercers’ Company are pleased to work in partnership with the Church of England and Andrews Charitable Trust to host Project Lab 2020.
The event will significantly contribute to the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Commission on Housing, Church and Community, by helping churches to respond effectively and creatively to those affected by housing need.
The five Project Lab finalists will pitch their project models to you and our panel of judges, in an attempt to secure a place on the Cinnamon Project Incubator, where industry specialists will help them develop the foundations they need to replicate their initiatives in churches across the UK. In addition, two of the projects will each be awarded a £30,000 development grant to support this.
As an invited guest, you will have the unique opportunity to invest in the future of this year’s finalists, by pledging a financial gift to support their development and growth. It is our hope that the five projects will develop into national initiatives that churches can replicate at speed and scale to address the UK housing crisis.
