Want to Become a Cinnamon Recommended Project?

What’s it All About?

We’re looking for new initiatives to join our menu of more than 30 other social action projects that are committed to helping the church to be “salt and light” in their communities.

Have you ever paused for a moment to contemplate the fact that a single match can light thousands of candles? In fact, there is really no limit to the number of fires that can be started by one single flame!

This is really the concept behind Cinnamon Recommended Projects. Don’t worry, we’re not pyromaniacs. What we mean is, we love helping brilliant ideas replicate for the benefit of individuals, families and communities across the UK.

Over the next few weeks, we’re looking for new projects to add to our menu. Take a look at our website and you’ll see a whole range of initiatives that help churches respond to needs within their community.

Some are big, and established, like TLG, CAP and Trussell Trust; others you might not have heard of, like Renew Wellbeing or Onus Safe Church. But they all have one thing in common – they help Christians respond to needs within their community.

You Don’t Have to Reinvent the Wheel

If you are running an incredible project that fits that bill, have already replicated it in two or three other places, and would like others to do the same, then we’d love to hear from you.

You see, here at Cinnamon we don’t believe in reinventing the wheel. We want to find out what God is already doing and share it. Because we don’t think you can get a much bigger endorsement than God’s blessing!

And we also happen to think that the church is a great way to get good things done in our communities.

The church, believe it or not, is already the world’s largest franchise. Perhaps it seems a bit crude to talk about it in such commercial terms. But with more than 54,000 individual congregations across the UK alone, the church has a reach into communities across our nation that the likes of McDonalds can only dream of!

Four Main Reasons to Join Us

So, if you’re already running a great project that’s changing lives – why should you apply to become a Cinnamon Recommended Project? Well, we’ll give you four good reasons why!

  1. We’ll help you to replicate. Churches looking to initiate social action projects know that we do our homework. So, if they start something that we have recommended, they can be confident that it will ‘cut the mustard,’ so to speak.
  2. You become part of the Cinnamon family. You’ll be invited to our yearly residential conference, where you’ll meet the other Recommended Projects, get input from external speakers and can chat to the Cinnamon team. For many it’s that, “I’m not alone” moment, when they realise there are other initiatives with a passion to transform communities.
  3. We’ll help you keep your fire going! We bring in professionals to share their wisdom with you, we’ll also give you a yearly ‘health check’ for your organisation, and you’ll have someone on the end of the phone that you can call.
  4. God calls us to share! We’re all familiar with the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. It’s Christ’s call for us to use the things he has given us fearlessly to help others, and that’s just what we want to help you do.

You’ll also get a mention on our website, with your own film, infographic and a link to your website. Our Advisors also refer the churches they work with to our Recommended Projects to help then respond to specific needs in their communities.

What Do We Ask of You?

Well, we will need you to meet the costs of the production of your film for our website. But apart from that, the biggest investment we want you to make is to the broader Cinnamon family.

As a Cinnamon Recommended Project, we want to connect you with initiatives that can help you grow and develop on your journey. We’d also love you to share your experience to help others on theirs.

We can do so much more than we could ever imagine when we come together as the Body of Christ to support one another to share Jesus’s love in our communities.

So What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for projects that fit into two categories:

Church-based projects: These are initiatives that operate through members of a local church, to support the community.

Community-based projects: These are initiatives that, while run by Christians, aren’t necessarily based in a church.

Whichever category you fit into – we’re looking for projects that are ‘Jesus-inspired’ and meet the needs of individuals within their communities – regardless of their faith, gender or sexual orientation.

If you have started a fire – we’d love to help you pass it on! There is a whole world of need out there and we need projects like yours to help others respond.
